A Tropical Wonderland: Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens

Easily accessible by bus, Uber, taxi or car, a visit to Puerto Vallarta is not complete without experiencing one of the city’s natural gems.  

Recently placing 5th in the USAToday’s Top 10 Botanical Gardens by popular vote, the Vallarta gardens never fail to astound their visitors. They extend over 20 acres and feature over 3000 plants. The garden is most widely known for its vast variety of orchid species. Roam through stunning palm trees, a mesmerizing rose garden, a fern tree grotto, an orchid house and discover all kinds of tropical flora and fauna along your way.  

You can choose to embark on a guided tour of the gardens or decide to adventure through them on your own. The guided tour allows you to venture through the garden’s trails, conservatories and exhibits with an expert guide who is chalked full of nature knowledge to share. After hiking along the trails, you can swim in the river, enjoy a meal at the magnificent Hacienda del Oro Restaurant, and visit the orchid conservatory.  

When visiting the Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens, it is recommended you bring sunscreen and bug spray, as well as comfortable walking shoes, a bathing suit and towel, and a reusable water bottle.
